Mawdngung village residents were first informed about the CLLM Project through the office of Sohiong C&RD Block, and they then held a general meeting with the public and village functionary members to decide to move forward with the plan and submit a proposal following the general meeting's decision.

Prior to the CLLMP, the village's residents stated that the problems they faced included forest fires, water scarcity, soil erosion, and a lack of water in the fields. These issues had a significant impact on the villagers, who made the decision to put into place various interventions that would and have helped them to address their issues.

According to a Mawdngung village resident's testimony, the interventions have been a blessing for the villagers because they have resulted in a number of positive changes, including increased water availability due to the construction of spring chambers and a decrease in the frequency of forest fires due to the construction of fire line controls, in addition to the advantages of the other interventions.
