COMMUNITY LED LANDSCAPE MANAGEMENT PROJECT (CLLMP)
The Government of Meghalaya with financial help from the World Bank is implementing the Meghalaya Community Led Landscape Management Project (MCLLMP). The project covers the entire state of Meghalaya, and implementation of community-led plans are rolled out in a phased manner throughout the state. The Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA) will facilitate community-led planning by providing support, technical inputs and funding.
The project is intended to strengthen community-led natural resources management in selected landscapes within the 7 districts of the state. This would be achieved through a variety of planning, capacity building, and on-the-ground interventions to promote the conservation, sustainable use of natural resources, social inclusion and community mobilization; building traditional knowledge and learning, mapping of natural resources management; strengthening the community institutions and creating linkage with financial institutions and community organizations.
The project interventions will include preparation of community led natural resource management plans. The CLLMP has the following three components:

The project objective is “to manage and conserve the natural resources, especially forests, soil and water sources, in a manner that supports the financial and physical well-being of communities in the State”
Shangpung Mynkrem Village isa village in Laskein C.D Block, located in West Jaintia Hills district in the state of Meghalaya. Agriculture is the main profession of this village and does not have any industrial development. The People of this area is very peaceful without taking much issues and problems to think about the external affairs. They are confined to what they have been doing and comfortable with their daily schedule.
According to the history the village was established on 1979 by Lt.Iong Phyllei and his family. They settled here for free without paying a single penny. During those days, there were no education system and they had to walk miles and miles away to travel from one place to another.
The community are mainly into farming and the crops cultivated by this village are rice,vegetables etc. And later after many years, the village was extended to the small society and people came to start their family. School was built and the household has been extended with lots of population.
Shangpung Mynkrem is a village in Laskein C.D. Block, in West Jaintia Hills District Meghalaya, India. It is about 15Km away from Block Office and 31Km from the district headquarter Jowai. The traditional land tenure system is Daloiship. The village is inhabited by the Pnar Community with 205 households and a population of 1368. The gender ratio in the village is 661 males and 707 females.Public Transport facilities to and fro is (Nano and Alto 800). 160 HHs uses fire wood for meeting the fuel needs, with an average consumption of 2910 kg per household per annum and 45 HHs use LPG with an average of 7 cylinders per household per annum. The village does not have sites of tourist interest. There are 3 primary schools. There is 1 Water and Sanitation Committee. There is no CHC at present.
Majority of the population are engaged in farming activities and the rest of the population line of work includes daily wages earner,teachers and government services.

Ground truthing and village level sensitization programme was held the village Shangpung Mynkrem on 3rd July 2019. As per the template submitted, the village dorbar consists of 10 members although there were more members. The meeting was consisting of a village Head man, Secretary and a Treasurer. There were women representative in the meeting.
1. Timber has been reduced over the years due to commercial use.
2. Degradation of cultivable land
3. Water bodies are facing threat due to domestic waste water.
5. There is scarcity of water during winter season
6.Some open spring need to be provided with proper infra so as to prevent contamination.
7. The cause of degradadtion is due to deforestation,soil erosion and others.
The list of indigenous tree species is – Dieng Chyrngan (Schima Wallichi), Dieng lien (Betula alnoides), diengkseh, diengsning, dieng sesai, dieng ruin, dieng syndoh diemg salo, dieng chyrlien, dieng saphai (Myrica esculanta).
The medicinal plant – dieng sapat, dieng chylakba, dieng soh brob, dieng syrmi, dieng salawan, dieng sning, dieng saliya.
Commercially valued tree- Diengkseh,dieng chyrngan (Schima Wallichii), dieng lien (Betula alnoides), dieng syndoh (exbucklandiapopulnea).
Signing of Documents:
After few days of sensitization programme, on the 11th October 2019 the district DPMU and SPMU visited Shangpung Mynkrem Village for signing of all the documents such as EOI, VGA and CGC.
Formation of VNRMC
The formation of VNRMC EC members and VCF were been done on the 5th October 2019 wherein the community decided to select the representatives from VEC, SHG and other village functionaries.

PRA exercise was conducted on the 3rd July 2019 at Shangpung Mynkrem Village, Laskein Block, WJH.
Plan Estimate:
The plan estimate is done once field engineer along with the Environment Management pay a visit to the proposed sites for inspection. On approval, the plan estimate is being carried out further by the district field engineer.
