Best Village Panchayat

Meghalaya had a moment of pride as the village of Aminda Simsanggre in the West Garo Hills District achieved the second position in the “Best Village Panchayat” category for the North East Zone during the 3rd National Water Awards. The formal award distribution ceremony took place at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on March 29, 2022. Both villages were recognized for their outstanding leadership in implementing community-driven Natural Resource Management (NRM) practices. These awards were the result of the effective service delivery by their Village Executive Committees (VECs) and the active involvement and dedication of the communities in promoting inclusive development.
