Mawkyrdep Village, one of the initial degraded villages selected for the Meghalaya Community Led Landscape Management Project (MCLLMP) with support from the World Bank and implementation by the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency, excelled in environmental conservation and resource management. They crafted a comprehensive Community Natural Resource Management Plan (CNRMP) as part of the project, effectively implementing interventions such as community procurement, record-keeping, and monitoring. Their remarkable dedication garnered accolades, earning them the State Award for Best Village in Livelihoods based on Natural Resource Management and the distinction of being the Best NRM village in Ri-Bhoi District under the General category in 2022.
